Workswell TADAS Thermal Driving Assistance System

Workswell TADAS is a state-of-the-art thermal Advanced Driving Assistance system (ADAS) developed and manufactured in Europe. As an ITAR-free solution, it is engineered to enhance safety and operational efficiency in the most demanding environments. TADAS is ideally suited for unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), heavy-duty machinery, defense platforms, firefighting vehicles, and patrol systems operating in the field.

Equipped with advanced FPGA-based image processing, TADAS provides exceptional scene visualization even under harsh conditions. Its thermal core features a sensitivity of <30 mK and a resolution of 640×480 px, enabling the detection of even the slightest temperature differences. The system supports scene temperature range from -50 °C to +600 °C.

TADAS is engineered for resilience. Its robust aluminum housing, IP67-rated protection, and certifications for vibration (3.0 Grms) and shock resistance (15G) ensure optimal performance in extreme environments. A front-mounted germanium window with an integrated deicing heater maintains clear visibility even in adverse weather conditions. Its compact size, lightweight design, and versatile mounting options allow seamless integration into any platform.

Ready for rapid deployment, TADAS boots up in under six seconds. It supports both automatic and manual gain control, spatial and temporal filtering, and offers 14 image palettes, including two user-defined options. Operated via the WEOM GUI and connected through a MIL-spec connector with CVBS video output and RS-485 interface, TADAS is purpose-built for integration into defense, security, and autonomous systems.

Connectivity: CVBS, and RS485

High Image Quality
TADAS utilizes advanced FPGA-based image processing to deliver exceptional thermal image quality. With a thermal sensitivity of <30 mK and a detector resolution of 640 × 480 px, the system can detect even subtle temperature differences—critical for vehicle operation in challenging terrain or low-visibility conditions.

Mission-Adaptive Lens Options
TADAS offers two fixed lens options (7.5 mm and 14 mm), allowing configuration based on specific operational needs—a wide field of view (91° × 74°) for close-range monitoring or a narrower field (42° × 32°) for long-range detection. For instance, the 14 mm lens can detect a person at up to 520 meters and a vehicle at up to 1,260 meters, making it ideal for border surveillance and autonomous navigation.

Wide Range of Applications
TADAS is engineered for a wide range of applications, including unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), firefighting and defense vehicles, and heavy machinery. Fully European and ITAR-free, it enables straightforward deployment in regions with strict export controls. The system is designed to perform reliably in the most demanding environments and missions.

Fast Start-up and Easy Control
TADAS powers up in under six seconds, ensuring readiness in urgent or high-stakes situations. It is operated via an RS-485 interface and an intuitive WEOM GUI software, allowing for fast integration and user-friendly field operation. A built-in tool for dead pixel correction further simplifies maintenance.

Compact and Easy to Integrate
With compact dimensions (70 × 65 × 114 mm) and a weight of only 0.6 kg, TADAS can be easily integrated into various vehicle platforms. Its rugged aluminum housing, available in camouflage colors (black, military green, or sand), along with an integrated germanium window heater, ensures dependable performance even in harsh conditions.

APPLICATIONS:

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV/UGV)
The TADAS thermal imaging system is ideal for unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). With a high detector sensitivity of <30 mK and resolution of 640 × 480 px, it delivers clear thermal imagery essential for navigation and obstacle detection. The system supports real-time performance with up to 60 Hz full-frame output and advanced FPGA-based processing. Compact dimensions and multiple mounting options allow seamless integration into robotic platforms.

Firefighting and Rescue Vehicles

TADAS supports firefighting and rescue operations by enabling thermal vision in difficult conditions, such as darkness or smoke. The detector covers temperature ranges from -50 °C up to 600 °C depending on gain mode. It features a start-up time of less than 6 seconds and includes a deicing heater on the front Germanium window for reliable performance in cold weather.

Defense and Tactical Vehicles

The TADAS system provides thermal imaging capabilities tailored for defense applications. It includes factory-calibrated non-uniformity and temperature drift compensation, along with advanced spatial and temporal image filtering for improved scene interpretation. Its detector pixel size of 17 μm provides up to 30% higher sensitivity compared to standard 12 μm detectors, supporting effective target recognition and identification.

Security Patrol and Surveillance

TADAS is well-suited for use in safety patrols and surveillance applications, offering fast and clear thermal detection of people, vehicles, or drones. DRI performance, based on Johnson Criteria, enables detection of vehicles up to 1260 m and humans up to 520 m using the 14.25 mm lens. With RS-485 control and CVBS video output, it integrates smoothly with existing vehicle systems.

Heavy-duty Vehicles and Machinery

TADAS enhances operational awareness for heavy trucks and machinery operating in challenging environments. It offers high thermal sensitivity, multiple fixed-focus lens options (7.5 mm and 14 mm), and selectable image filters to ensure optimal visibility. With AGC and MGC image control, users can adapt the image output to dynamic conditions during operations.
